Government Affairs

The Food Northwest Government Affairs program advances the interests of food processors in the state legislatures of Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Food Northwest contracts with lobbyists in all three states and employs staff to coordinate legislative activities of the lobbyists. Food Northwest’s Government Affairs team is an extension of our members’ staff. We make it easy to get your voice heard at your local and national governments.

Concerns identified by issue committees are brought to Food Northwest's Government Affairs Committee for review and consideration. Recommendations are taken to the Food Northwest Board of Directors for approval and action, providing a coordinated voice for our membership at both state and federal levels for increased effectiveness and influence.

Oregon & Washington Food Political Action Committees (PACs)

Independent from Food Northwest and self-funded, these IRS code "527" PACs act autonomously to support or oppose political candidates and legislative initiatives. Food Northwest volunteers staff and administrative support to each PAC but has no authority over funds or activities.
