Environmental Affairs

Food Northwest's Environmental Affairs program is an effective and strategic advocate on behalf of the Northwest food processing industry. The program enhances member competitiveness by reducing overly burdensome regulation, advocating for efficient, effective, regulatory programs, and by serving as a leader among regional industry groups.

Members of the Environmental Affairs Committee, through their active involvement in the association’s committee process, assist other Processor Members in dealing with matters of environmental concern by improving their communication with state and federal regulatory agencies.

Committee members keep abreast of environmental, regulatory, and legislative affairs, and distribute relevant information to other members. They maintain regular liaison with state and federal agencies on air and water quality, water supply, climate change, endangered species, and other environmental issues.

The committee also monitors the actions of national food processing associations as they relate to environmental matters.
