Operations & Technical Affairs

The Food Safety & Technical Program of Food Northwest assists members in achieving competitiveness and regulatory compliance. The program focuses broadly on the technical aspects of production management including: operations, food defense, food safety, engineering, packaging, and regulatory compliance.

The mission of the food safety program is to:

  • Be an advocate for members’ interests by managing association involvement and/or disseminating information regarding emerging laws, regulations and technical issues with the view toward science-based public policy compatible with operational feasibility, and
  • Be a resource for members in managing challenges associated with implementation, compliance, enforcement of regulations and  training on technical issues of concern to members.

The program focuses on three primary priorities:

Priority 1:  Manage association involvement in and information sharing of new and changing food processing statutes and regulations at the federal and state levels.

Priority 2:  Educate and promote relationship building with key Northwest regulatory agency personnel toward better understanding of industry missions.

Priority 3:  Manage technical issues and communicate issue development and scientific advancement of concern to member companies.
